Dalla riflessione sul tema “Linking People” è nata la proposta di realizzare un oggetto che richiamasse l’importanza delle relazioni fra gli uomini e fra uomo e natura, ma che fosse allo stesso tempo espressione concreta di un progetto possibile che trascenda un oggetto d’architettura. Questo ha condotto a immaginare una piccola casa realizzata con materiali semplici e naturali attraverso un processo costruttivo sperimentale e riuscire nell’intento di costruire quindi un prototipo di un alloggio temporaneo anche d’emergenza in grado però di avere alla base dei forti significati spirituali. La scelta del numero 64 per gli elementi in bambù, rappresenta uno stretto richiamo alle regole della natura e dell’universo e in particolare ai 64 esagrammi rappresentanti i principi fondamentali dell’esistenza riportati nel testo oracolare I-Ching. Queste regole della Natura prendono forma nelle 64 caselle della scacchiera costituita dagli elementi in bambù, otto per ogni lato, e otto come il richiamo al concetto di infinito “∞”. La foresta di bambù infatti, è metafora dell’esistenza e della vita umana come riportato nella Divina Commedia di Dante Alighieri “…el mezzo del cammin di nostra vita mi ritrovai per una selva oscura che la diritta via era smarrita…”(Inferno, canto 1, vv 1-21). In questa foresta un elemento di collegamento, avvolgendosi intorno ai culmi di bambù crea quindi un “uogo rifugio”che richiama il significato di “Abitare il Tempo”diventando un simbolo del rapporto fra gli uomini e la natura dove l’uomo non è più al centro di essa ma ne fa parte.

A response to the theme “Linking People”, the project seeks to create a concrete object that recalls the relationship between men and the relationship between man and nature that can, at the same time, transcend an architectural object. This concept finds expression as a small house built using an experimental construction process with simple and natural materials – a prototype of a temporary, ad hoc shelter with strong spiritual roots. The house is placed in a forest of 64 bamboo poles; a number often used to represent the rules of nature and of the universe, most notably as the 64 ‘hexagrams’, the fundamental principles of existence, contained in the ancient oracular text of the I-Ching. Organized like the 64 square-grid of a chess board, the forest has 8 rows and 8 columns of bamboo pieces – 8 like the symbol for infinity “∞.” “..In the middle of the journey of our life, I came to myself in a dark wood, for the straightway was lost...”(Inferno, canto 1, vv 1-21). The bamboo forest is a metaphor for the existence of human life as described in the Devine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. The bamboo poles are wrapped in an element of connection to create a “lace of refuge,”recalling the significance of “bitare il Tempo”(“o live the time”. Ultimately, the project symbolizes the relationship between man and nature, where man is not at the center, but rather a part of the whole.
